The Life Size Tyrannosaurus Skull

This is the life-size cast skull of Stan, a tyrannosaur first unearthed in South Dakota’s Black Hills in 1992. Considered the best-preserved and most complete dinosaur skull yet discovered in the world, the original was found in a distarticulated state—each bone was separated from the others—allowing the bones to be preserved with little or no distortion or crushing despite millions of years of burial. With only two small bones from the lower jaw missing, this faithful replica is assembled from 47 bones and 35 teeth.
